Cretaceous Aged Carbonate Prospect: Louisiana Example

North Louisiana Carbonate Stratigraphic Trap: 53 BCFG + 133,000 BC Potential

North LA LK Carbonate Stratigraphic Trap: Nomad Geosciences has identified an open acreage, multi-well Cretaceous-aged carbonate prospect for leasing and development. This prospect is geologically situated within the North Louisiana Salt Dome Basin. Trapping mechanism is stratigraphic; where the target objectives are the updip pinchout of thick, porous, skeletal/reefal carbonate buildup reservoirs into tight shaley lime mudstones on a major turtle structure’s flanks. Previous drilling has defined the buildup limits across the interdomal area. The abrupt carbonate buildup pinchout within a narrow two to three mile span is adequately defined by existing well control. The proposed initial well test targets the area updip of a well that recovered gas and gas cut mud during a DST. The operator flared gas during this test. Log calculations in offset wells show an updip progression in gas saturation as expected within an increasing gas column. This project affords the participating company a unique, relatively low cost opportunity to capture a core area within multiple productive gas and liquid hydrocarbon trends providing balance to product price swings. Exploitation of these carbonate reservoirs will be enhanced by application of modern evaluation, stimulation and completion technology. Additional LK Carbonate trend prospects and leads have been identified on adjacent fault traps and flank salt dome features. These prospects are also available and provide significant upside for reserve growth within the same area and trend. Nomad Geosciences recommends that critical trap closure and salt dome structures be confirmed by existing seismic data.
